Notice to Industry on the future of PSO Supported Contract for Differences

The SEM Committee is today 14th August 2019, publishing an Information Note regarding the future status of the PSO Supported Contract for Differences (CfDs). PSO supported CfDs are associated with ESB’s thermal generating plants covered under the PSO levy in Ireland, offered via auction over the Tullett Prebon platform. ESB’s Lough Ree and West Offaly plants are the only remaining plants under the Peat PSO support scheme. This support scheme is set to terminate at the end of 2019. As a result, the PSO Supported CfDs will no longer be offered to the market. The last PSO supported CfD auction is set to take place on the 15th August 2019 per , which will cover the period Q4 2019 - The link can be found here

As stated in SEM-17-015 the Regulatory Authorities (RAs) will undertake a review of liquidity in the Forward Market 18-24 months after the I-SEM energy market has been in operation. The SEM Committee will then assess the functioning of the forward energy market and consult on any necessary policies - The link can be found here
