Network Imperfections Charges October 2025 – September 2026 and Reforecast Report October 2023 – September 2024 Decision Paper published

Today, 11 September 2025, the Regulatory Authorities (RAs) are publishing a Decision Paper on the SEM Committee’s Network Imperfections Charge.

SONI and EirGrid, together the Transmission System Operators (TSOs) for the all-island Single Electricity Market (SEM), control the transmission of electricity and the management of various network constraints. Network Imperfections Charges ensure that the TSOs can recover the costs associated with addressing these network constraints and maintain system security and are a key feature of the energy transition. Given the annual charge is based on a forecast, the overall charge for each year includes a K-Factor adjustment which adjusts the difference between forecast and actual costs in the preceding periods.

This Decision Paper details the Network Imperfections tariff to be applied in Tariff Year 2025/26.

The SEM Committee has decided the Network Imperfections Charge for Tariff Year 2025/26 will be €790.24 million, equivalent to an estimated Imperfections Price of €19.93/MWh. This is a reduction of €93 million from the TSOs’ original forecast charge of €883.24 million (equivalent to an estimated Imperfections Price of €22.28/MWh)
