Advance notice of planned modification to Electricity Supply Licences and Electricity Generation Licences in Ireland and Northern Ireland

Advance notice of planned modification to Electricity Supply Licences and Electricity Generation Licences in Ireland and Northern Ireland

The Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) in Ireland and the Utility Regulator (UR) in Northern Ireland are preparing to modify the existing electricity supply licences and electricity generation licences to facilitate the implementation of changes to the wholesale electricity market on the island of Ireland.  Further information relating to the new wholesale arrangements in the Single Electricity Market may be found here: /i-sem.

The CER and the UR are planning to commence the statutory process for modification of licences in June 2017. This process is underpinned by distinct legislation which is specific to each jurisdiction. Therefore, it will be conducted independently by the CER and UR in their respective jurisdiction.

Prior the commencement of this process, the CER and UR are planning to engage with licence holders to provide further information about the proposed licence changes. Further information about how to partake in this engagement may be found here: www.cer.ie and www.uregni.gov.uk.
